Paulo Gonzo — The night I closed one chapter (and opened another)

For years I photographed hundreds of shows, stages, and artists. But there was one name that, inexplicably, always escaped me: Paulo Gonzo. On June 12th, that moment finally arrived—and it became one of the most memorable nights of my career.

Throughout all these years as a concert photographer, there was one artist who escaped my notice.

I photographed hundreds of shows, worked at festivals, concert halls, and stages of all sizes. I worked with artists I never imagined I would photograph. But there was one name that remained uncrossed off the list… Paulo Gonzo.

On June 12th, it finally happened, and it was a night to remember.

More than finally photographing a Paulo Gonzo show, it was realizing that I had achieved what was, for me, the last great professional goal I had to accomplish. A few days ago I even joked that, after this, I could retire.

But in the end, no.

When I finally arrived at the destination I had been pursuing for so many years, I realized I didn’t want to stop. On the contrary. I realized I still have the desire to seek new challenges, new stories, new stages, and new photographs.

Sometimes we spend years thinking that happiness lies in achieving a goal. But when we get there, we discover that the most important thing was never the finish line. It was the journey. And the desire to keep going.

Interestingly, after waiting so many years for this opportunity, I left the show with one conclusion: I want to photograph Paulo Gonzo again many more times.
